Field note

Make a U.S. passport photo without retouching it

The U.S. Department of State requires a 2 × 2-inch color photo. Head height from chin to the top of the hair must be 1 to 1⅜ inches, or 50% to 69% of a digital square. Eye height should be 56% to 69% from the bottom. Drag and zoom until the face fits the guide.

Siftlet only crops, resizes, and arranges the original pixels. It deliberately has no background remover, beauty filter, face reshaping, or AI enhancement because current guidance rejects digitally changed photos. Take another photo in front of a plain white or off-white background when the source does not comply.

The 600 × 600 JPEG is a square crop. The Letter PDF places six copies at exactly 2 × 2 inches when printed at 100% or Actual size. The 4 × 6 JPEG fits six copies edge to edge at 300 pixels per inch; disable “Fit” and automatic cropping at the print kiosk. Review the current official photo requirements before applying.
