PayPal Fee Calculator
Use current U.S. PayPal payment-type presets to calculate fees and net receipts, or reverse the math to find the amount a customer should send.
01 / Published preset
Check the exact payment path
“PayPal fee” is not one rate. Checkout, card, QR, Pay Later, and invoice ACH differ.
02 / Reverse calculation
Invoice for the amount you need
The fixed fee is charged on the gross amount too. Adding the visible fee to your target will come up short.
03 / Quick checks
Know when the fixed fee bites
Effective rate falls as the payment gets larger because the fixed fee is spread across more dollars.
Independent estimate for U.S. PayPal business accounts. Negotiated pricing, currency conversion, disputes, refunds, promotions, and account eligibility can change the actual fee.
Field note
Calculate a PayPal fee in both directions
Choose the way the customer will pay. PayPal Checkout and Venmo use 3.49% plus $0.49 in the current U.S. merchant table, while standard card payments use 2.99% plus $0.49. Goods-and-services money transfers, QR transactions, Pay Later, and invoice Pay by Bank have their own schedules.
“Customer sends” subtracts a fee from a known gross amount. “I need to receive” runs the formula backward and finds the invoice amount that leaves the requested net after the percentage and fixed fee. The international switch adds the published 1.50% commercial-transaction surcharge.
Presets were checked against PayPal’s U.S. merchant-fee schedule, last updated June 29, 2026. Check the rate in your account before relying on a large transaction.
